Sr. Madeleine Grace, CVI, received her PhD in Historical Theology from St. Louis University. She publishes in the areas of Church History and Spirituality.
The major in pastoral studies is designed for students who wish to prepare themselves for serving in various ministries of the Catholic Church. Building on an essential program in theology, it also provides training in skills necessary for pastoral ministries, with a choice of three concentrations: catechetics, sacramental-liturgical ministry or liturgical music ministry.
Upon graduation, a student majoring in pastoral studies should be able to interpret scriptural, historical and systematic/moral texts in accord with theological methodologies, and to meet job descriptions for pastoral ministries in Catholic parishes. A student’s achievement of the objectives of this major will be assessed by an exit examination.
