School of Education Undergraduate Program
The School of Education prepares highly qualified educators who demonstrate the ability to be effective in a variety of field settings, both private and public. Instilled with an appreciation for ethical behavior inspired by the tradition of the founding Basilian Fathers, graduates of the school have a rich history of success in their chosen profession.
“My studies and hard work at the University of St. Thomas allowed me to excel as both an eighth and fifth grade science teacher. The rigorous and extensive training in education and science courses helped propel me to be a leader for science at my campus.”
The School of Education, in collaboration with the School of Arts and Sciences, offers a teacher preparation program designed to help students attain certification and success as new teachers. The passing rate for UST’s School of Education students on state licensing examinations is outstanding, and graduates are highly sought.
Evening and Saturday courses are also offered in Education. Contact the School of Education for more information on evening and Saturday scheduling for part-time or full-time, particular for students who are not able to be full-time sudents during the day, non-traditional students.
Full-time and day-time undergraduate students of the School of Education participate in cohorts during their junior and senior years. The cohorts serve as a supportive group for students who are at similar places in their professional development. Students in these cohorts have opportunities to travel together with professors to professional conferences, participate in Study Abroad trips and create lasting relationships.
