Welcome
Music Preparatory School

The Music Preparatory School seeks to enlighten, excite and educate all children and adults who have a desire to make music a part of their lives. It is our belief that the study of music is all inclusive. Music study incites intellect, stimulates innate beauty and contributes to a lifetime of music making; increasing the quality of life and nourishing the human spirit. Our goal is to make music available and affordable to all individuals regardless of age, race, ethnic origin or financial means. The school complements public and private school programs by providing individual and group music instruction at all levels, a resource for adults with amateur interests in music, and a training school for exceptionally gifted pre-college musicians. It is the goal of the Preparatory School to provide each student with a stimulating environment best suited to his or her musical needs and background.

Students who were exposed to music-based lessons scored a full 100 percent higher on fractions tests than those who learned in the conventional manner. Second-grade and third-grade students were taught fractions in an untraditional manner by teaching them basic music rhythm notation. The group was taught about the relationships between eighth, quarter, half and whole notes. Their peers received traditional fraction instruction. Source: Neurological Research, March 15, 1999.
