STEM Grants at UST
The University of St. Thomas and Houston Community College are partners through a U.S. Department of Education grant that promotes and supports student studies and research in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Through articulation agreements between UST and HCC, students experience a seamless transition of college coursework from their community college to a four-year university, leading to a bachelor’s degree.
An integral component of the University of St. Thomas-Houston Community College partnership is the UST-HCC STEM Research Program. HCC students apply and are chose to participate in a nine-month research project through which they are mentored by both HCC and UST faculty. Students’ academic careers are enhanced by working with trained, knowledgeable faculty on cutting-edge research. They are rewarded with a generous stipend and the opportunity to present their findings in a professional setting.
