St. Martin de Porres Society Feast Day Celebration – Nov. 7, 2007
Join University of St. Thomas alumni, current and prospective students and community members for the inaugural Feast Day Celebration for Saint Martin de Porres on Nov. 7. The event is hosted by the Saint Martin de Porres Society, an association formed by African-American alumni for the recruitment, retention, development and graduation of African-American students.
Activities will begin at 5 p.m. with a Mass in the Chapel of St. Basil, 3802 Yoakum, and will be followed by a Caribbean-themed reception with remarks from University officials and student leaders.
Founded in June of 2009, the University of St. Thomas’ St. Martin de Porres Society was formed by the University’s Advancement office and a group of alumni with a mission to increase black alumni participation in the affairs of the University as well as serve as a vehicle to help with recruitment, retention, development, graduation and overall growth of UST’s African-American student body.
