Welcome to the webpage for the University of St. Thomas Environmental Science and Studies Department! We offer a uniquely integrated degree program featuring pertinent academic offerings in environmental science and studies, varied opportunities for field work in Texas and beyond, and a strong foundation in Catholic theology and environmental ethics.

The following degrees are available: A B.S. in Environmental Science (with a minor in Chemistry), A B.S. in Earth Systems Science, a B.A. in Environmental Studies (Natural Resources or Sustainable Cities Tracks), and a joint B.A. in Environmental Studies with Catholic Studies, Communication, Political Science, and Psychology. We also offer a minor in Environmental Science and Studies.

UST Environmental Experience in Assisi
UST students traveled to Assisi, Italy, for a hands-on experience of the land and Franciscan spirituality. This part of their journey was captured by Salt + Light TV. The segment was aired on S+LTV’s show “Perspective” on June 10, 2010.

 

Meet the Chair

Sr. Damien Marie Savino - The University of St. Thomas HoustonSr. Damien worked for 12 years as a consultant in the field and laboratory, including two years with the Environmental Remediation group of United Technologies, in Hartford, CT. and was involved in soil and groundwater remediation of contaminated sites.

NebbyNebby is a bearded dragon lizard who resides at the Environmental Science and Studies Department in Robertson 104.  Popular with students and faculty alike, he arrived in March of 2009 and will soon be 3 years old!
