Robin N. Williamson has been a professor at the University of St. Thomas since 1983. Dr. Williamson has been a full-professor since l997 and received tenure in l990. She teaches courses in communication theory, interpersonal and nonverbal communication, rhetorical criticism, and mass media theory and history. Her areas of research expertise are marriage and family interaction, interpersonal communication, rhetorical criticism, and parliamentary law. Besides serving as department chair since 1990, Dr. Williamson has also been active as Chair of the Faculty Senate, Chair and Secretary of the Curriciulum committee, and as a member of the Social Justice committee, the Dean's Council, the Chairs Forum and the Retention Committee to name a few service posts. She received her BA (1970) in Humanities/English and her MA (1973) in Speech Communication from the University of Southern California. Her doctoral work in Communication and Mass Media studies was completed in l983. Dr. Williamson has been fortunate to receive teaching, service, and research awards--University Educator of the Year from the Texas Speech Communication Association (2004-2005), the Joseph M McFadden Service Award at the University of St. Thomas (2005-2006), and the American Institute of Parlimentarians Presidential Award for Excellence in Writings on Parliamentary Law (2006). |
