Amanda Venta - Honors Sophomore, International Studies
Born in Chicago, Amanda moved to Houston about six years ago to start eighth-grade at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. She graduated from there in 2005 and enrolled at St. Thomas.
Amanda first heard of UST when her older sister applied here. When it came time for Amanda to decide on a school, UST seemed like the right choice.
“I decided to go to St. Thomas because I decided that staying close to my family was the most important thing for me at that time,” she said. Amanda received the VJ Guinan Scholarship, which covers her full tuition. She’s now in her second year at St. Thomas, majoring in International Studies.
Along with efforts to handle an Honors courseload, Amanda also has responsibilities with the Residence Council and the SGA, having served as a Freshman Senator last year and serving as Sophomore Senator this year.
After graduating from St. Thomas, Amanda hopes to attend medical school. In the meantime, she enjoys “hanging out with friends, dancing, going home for dinner,” and just being a typical Honors student. |
