Dr. Paul Hahn

Dr. Paul HahnDepartment of Theology
Professor Emeritus

Education
A Kansas native, Dr. Hahn attended Emporia State University and got his BA and MA in English. After earning his MA in theology at the Aquinas Institute of Theology, he went on to do his doctoral work in theology at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Teaching Experience
It was at Emporia State University that his teaching career began in 1970. When asked why he chose the teaching profession, Dr. Hahn’s response was that “A professor of mine said that he chose teaching because he wanted to spend his life living in a park. But not me: I chose it because communicating knowledge is thrilling.”

Any student who has taken one of Dr. Hahn’s classes will have to agree that this UST theology professor certainly makes learning thrilling as well. An expert on world religions, Dr. Hahn has spent his time, since his arrival at UST in 1990, teaching numerous theology courses dealing with scripture and world religions. His knowledge of this area has often been called upon to help with the annual Lenten Lecture Series, where he has served as guest speaker for the last several years. Now, he’s also taken on the task of teaching the first Honors course – The Tribe and the City.

Other
His knowledge of scripture and religions is astounding, so how does he know so much? Well, maybe it’s because in his spare time, he likes to “Read, read, and read. (Oh, yeah, and watch the Science Channel).”
