Young Hall
Young Hall is located at 4200 Mt. Vernon Street on the south side of campus and available for upper-class and non-traditional students that want to continue to benefit from a Residence Life community. Residents can choose from one of three floor plans that include: full-service kitchens with a dishwasher, stove and refrigerator; hardwood floors in living and dining room; and carpeting in the bedroom.
Young Hall also features a resident assistant staff, maintenance staff, on-site laundry, center courtyard, weekly custodial service, and monthly planned events that seek to enhance the growth of all community members.
Are the apartments furnished?
Each bedroom comes with two extra-long twin-size beds, two chairs, two dressers, and two desks. The living room is furnished with one sofa and two end tables. The dinning room is furnished with a dinning room table and chairs. University furniture may not be taken apart or stacked and must remain in the assigned apartment. Shifting or trading furniture between rooms without permission and/or altering or defacing property in any way is prohibited.
What size are the apartments?
One, two, and three bedroom units are available.
How do I reserve a Residence Life apartment?
Students interested in reserving a Residence Life apartment should go online to the Residence Life website and fill out a Residence Life application. Once an application is properly submitted to the Office of Residence Life, the prospective resident will be mailed out a contracting packet they must fill out to be eligible for housing.
Is a security deposit required for the apartments?
Yes, interested students must send in a $300 security deposit to the Office of Residence Life to secure an apartment. Checks should be payable to The University of St. Thomas. Part or all of the $300 security deposit is refundable depending on the condition of the apartment when the resident moves out.
Do I pay monthly rent?
No, the Residence Life contract works on a yearly basis. Students interested in the apartments will have a housing charge placed on their student account each semester. Please visit our housing rates page for more information
Do I have to purchase a meal plan?
Yes, apartment residents are required to purchase a flex meal plan of $550 each semester.
Do I have to have a roommate in the apartment?
Yes, in order to make sure every student that wants to live on campus has an opportunity to, all apartment residents are required to have a roommate.
Can I get a single room?
Two structurally single rooms are available in Young Hall. Considerations for single rooms outside the structurally singles will not be given until the third full week of fall class. This process is put into place to make sure all students who want to live on campus have an opportunity to reserve space.
