International Studies Society Hosts International Festival
The University of St. Thomas will host I-Fest, an annual international festival sponsored by the International Studies Society (ISS) from 7 – 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, on the Campus Life Mall. The event includes live performances featuring international musicians and dance artists, as well as a sampling of food and drink from around the world.

Lee Lecture in English: Water Music: Writing the Rhythms of a River
Anne McCutchan, musician and author, will discuss the intersection of science and the humanities in her current book project, Water Music: Rhythms of a River at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 2. The book examines environmental changes in Louisiana’s Atchafalaya River Basin by way of the life and work of Earl Robicheaux, Morgan City composer and naturalist.

Scientist, Theologian Dedicated to Open Faith and Science Dialogue
With a long and varied career as an engineer, physicist, professor and Methodist minister, Dr. John F. Wilson exemplifies a life where faith and science coexists in harmony. Serving as the University of St. Thomas Center for Faith and Culture Scholar in Residence since 2007, Wilson combines his scientific and theological expertise to direct and organize conferences and symposia to foster dialogue among a consortium of scientists, religious leaders and academicians.

Italian Festival Moves to UST Campus
Continuing it’s partnership with the Italian Cultural Community Center, the University of St. Thomas was selected to host the Houston Italian Festival, otherwise known as Festa Italiana, on campus for three days, October 16-18, 2009. The Houston Italian Festival has been bringing the Houston Community together to celebrate all things Italian since 1978. Today, Festa Italiana is one of the largest ethnic festivals in the city that attracts thousands of Houstonians.

Lenten Renewal Concert Features Internationally Acclaimed Guitarist
Born without arms, Tony Melendez taught himself to play guitar with his feet at a young age, and now brings his message of hope and inspiration to young adults through his music ministries. Melendez will perform a Lenten Renewal Concert on Friday, April 3 from 7 - 9 p.m., in the Jerabeck Center. Tickets: $3 advance, $5 at the door. For reservations, call 713-525-3149 or e-mail elsie.biron@stthom.edu.


UST Celebrates Dr. Gustavo Wensjoe's Life

With an outpouring of emotion and affection, nearly 600 family, friends, students, and colleagues gathered to celebrate the life of the late Dr. Gustavo Wensjoe at a prayer service Thursday, March 26. Dr. Wensjoe and his son, Julian, were tragically killed in a car accident on March 19, in Santa Clara, Peru.
