| The Center for Irish Studies Receives Unprecedented Accolades |

The University of St. Thomas Center for Irish Studies and its director, Lori Gallagher, JD, have experienced a banner year, receiving an impressive round of international, national, state and local accolades. Kudos include the Center earning a spot among the top 10 Irish Studies programs in the nation and Gallagher being named to the Global Irish 100. |

| University of St. Thomas Ranked No. 1 in Texas for RecycleMania Competition |

The University of St. Thomas ranked first among participating Texas universities for the second consecutive year, and 21st in the nation in the 2009 RecycleMania competition. This success follows the 2008 RecycleMania competition, when UST ranked first in Texas and fifth in the nation. In the final week of competition alone – March 21-28 – UST recycled 80 pounds of plastic, 25 pounds of aluminum, 150 pounds of glass and more than two tons of paper.

| UST Appoints Director of Graduate Admissions and Veteran Services |

University of St. Thomas announces the appointment of Shannon Wilson, a veteran of the United States Air Force, as director of Graduate Admissions and Veteran Services. In 2007, she received her Master of Business Administration from UST. Wilson is responsible for increasing enrollment of veterans and enrollment in graduate programs. |

| Executive Certificate Course Offered: “How Organizations Prosper – Even in Troubled Times” |

The University of St. Thomas Cameron School of Business will offer an Executive Certificate course for businesses and nonprofit organizations led by Professor John Whitney, identified by Business Week Magazine as one of the 10 most sought out professors in executive education. The course entitled, “How Organizations Prosper - Even in Troubled Times," will be held on the University campus on Wednesday-Sunday, June 3-6.

| Women, Culture and Society Program Presents “The Little Known Ima Hogg: A Woman Ahead of her Time” |

Historian Dr. Virginia Bernhard will deliver the first annual Elsa Zambosco-Thomas Lecture in Women, Culture and Society entitled, “The Little Known Ima Hogg: A Woman Ahead of Her Time,” at 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 4. Before Ima Hogg was known as “The First Lady of Texas” and a leading philanthropist of the 20th century, she was a little-known tomboy, horsewoman and an adventurous college co-ed. Rediscover the formative years of one of Texas history’s most respected women. |

Former Shell Oil President John Hofmeister will address the University of St. Thomas 2009 graduating class at the 59th Commencement. Upon retirement, Hofmeister founded and heads the nonprofit organization Citizens for Affordable Energy. In his speech, “21st Century Leadership Challenge,” Hofmeister will share why sustainability and authenticity were never more important to the future than now. |
