| UST Appoints Director of Nursing Program Development |

University of St. Thomas Houston announces the appointment of Dr. Poldi Tschirch as director of Nursing Program Development. Tschirch will assist the University in re-establishing the School of Nursing on campus. In 2008, University of St. Thomas began its initial planning phase to reopen the School of Nursing to address the growing shortage of nurses nationwide. |

| Dr. Charlene Dykman Receives Prestigious Teaching Award |

Dr. Charlene Dykman, Cameron School of Business professor of management and marketing, was named 2009 Piper Professor by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation. Currently, the Foundation honors 15 professors in the state of Texas for their dedication to the teaching profession, and for their outstanding academic, scientific and scholarly achievement. |

| Social Justice Summer Conference: “Poverty in the USA & Abroad” |

The 5th annual University of St. Thomas Fr. William J. Young Social Justice Summer Conference, scheduled for June 4 and 5, will focus on a social justice issue of poverty within the Catholic social tradition. Attend this civil deliberation on matters that particularly affect those on the margin of political, social and economic structures. Poverty is a moral and social crisis that threatens both national and international health and well-being. |

| Education Student From Bethlehem Earns UST MEd |

For Khalil Handal, who traveled from the West Bank to Houston, walking across the stage to receive a master’s degree in education is another step in his multicultural journey – an educational journey that bridged distance with hope. Handal was one of four students who earned a unique Master of Education degree born from a partnership with the University of St. Thomas and the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist’s Holy Child Program for Traumatized Children in Beit Sahour (Shepherd’s Field). |

Big 4 Accounting Firm Hires Three UST BBA/MBA Students

As graduates across the country face the challenge of finding a job in an economic downturn, Johnny Huynh said the University of St. Thomas helped him weather the uncertainty of the current financial storm by providing the skills, connections and experience to secure a job after graduation. Huynh and two other UST Cameron School of Business five-year BBA/MBA accounting majors – Audrey Orda and Maichi Bui – completed internships at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and were offered jobs upon completion of their MBA with a concentration in accounting in May 2010. |
