CTS is the only graduate philosophy program uniquely focused on the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas in the US. The Center is founded on the Church’s insistence of the perennial value of the thought of Aquinas as the new millennium proceeds.
Dr. Mary Catherine Sommers is a Professor of Philosophy and the Director of the Center for Thomistic Studies. Her work includes articles on Aquinas, Walter Burley and a variety of topics in ethics.
Doctoral candidate Joseph Hattrup’s dissertation was unanimously passed on April 19. He argued that two famous Aristotelian doctrines on substance are not contradictory in principle. Hattrup will now be referred to as Dr. Joseph Hattrup.

Pope John Paul II Forum The Pope John Paul II forum seeks to promote the understanding of the thought of Pope John Paul II and to develop his legacy as it forms and equips the Church for the new evangelization.
Corpus Thomisticum The Corpus Thomisticum project aims to provide scholars with a set of free online instruments of research on Thomas Aquinas, including the Opera Omnia in Latin, a searchable Index Thomisticus, and other resources.
Admissions Creates New Grad Office Prospective graduate students considering University of St. Thomas will now be able to contact a central graduate admissions office. University of St. Thomas is establishing a new Office of Graduate Admissions as part of its strategic planning process.
Macias Accepted to Thomistic Seminar John Macias, doctoral student at the University of St. Thomas Center for Thomistic Studies, has been accepted to the 8th Annual Thomistic Seminar for graduate students in philosophy and related disciplines from Aug. 4-10 in Princeton, N.J. The topic is “Themes in the Philosophy of Alasdair MacIntyre and Thomas Aquinas.”
