Assumptions
We believe:
- That the Incarnation is God's process of inculturating his love in human cultures.
- That nothing takes precedence over the value and dignity of the human person.
- That the human person can come to an authentic and full humanity only through culture.
- That all cultures, being human creations, are both graced and sinful, thus in need of redemption.
- That the Good News of the Christian Gospel constantly renews the life and cultures of fallen humanity.
- That the process through which the Gospel penetrates cultures is lengthy and ongoing.
- That inculturation is a process of bringing Divine Love in Christ to all strata of humanity and transforming them from within.
- That through the power of gospel love human criteria of judgment, values, lines of thought and models of life are affected and upset.
- That the message of salvation builds on human culture, for God has spoken according to the cultures proper to different ages.
