Certificate in Faith and Culture
The Certificate in Faith and Culture program is rooted within the same course offerings as the Master of Arts in Faith and Culture degree program. The Certificate is designed for individuals who wish to enrich their academic or professional careers while earning a recognized credential, but who do not wish to pursue an advanced degree in Faith and Culture.
How is the Certificate different from the Master of Arts in Faith and Culture? The Certificate:
Is comprised of only the first 18 hours (core courses) of the MAFC 36-hour program, and
Offers the option of replacing two of those core courses with approved electives.
The CFC requires completion of 18 graduate credit hours in the program.
Certificate students must complete all course work in the curriculum as specified. These are not audit courses.
Transferring from Certificate program to Masters of Faith and Culture:
Certificate students may opt to apply to the MAFC program (change of status) before completion of the Certificate program. If accepted, certificate students may transfer up to 18 credit-hours into the MAFC program. Credit hours may be comprised of the four certificate Core Courses (12 hours) and the two certificate electives (6 hours).
Please note: students applying for change of status must do so prior to the beginning of the semester in which the change will take effect.
Additionally, students transferring to the MAFC program must demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.25 or higher in the Certificate Program, and satisfy all other Admission Requirements of the MAFC program.
