Dum Spiro, semantic of "while I breathe" signifies the program's objective to never stop in our mission to eliminate poverty through micro-lending and encouraging entrepreneurship and sustainable growth in poverty stricken regions. The CIS Micro-Credit Program offers students’ the opportunity to participate in a program that empowers disadvantaged individuals around the world. Through funds raised, the Program will be able to dispatch more loans to more beneficiaries in more countries. The inaugural Dum Spiro event ,last year, raised over $10,000 that aided the Micro-Credit program in dispatching loans to over 70 beneficiaries all over the world. With the collaborative effort of the UST and
Houston community, the CIS Micro-Credit will continue to strive for the eradication of poverty and to allow those living under the poverty threshold an opportunity for self-empowerment for themselves, their families, and their communities. |
