PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
Presentation Guidelines for Oral Presentations & Posters
UST Research Symposium
April 13-14, 2007

Oral Presentations
All media-dependent presentations (e.g., PowerPoint) MUST be sent to the Digital Drop box on the URC Blackboard site by Monday, April 9, to be loaded on the presentation computers. Talks are limited to 15 minutes. This should translate into a 12 minute talk with 3 minutes for questions. Session moderators will strictly adhere to time limits. Talks will be in Malloy, both Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14.

On the day of your presentation, please arrive at least 30 minutes early and introduce yourself to the moderator. Notify the moderator of your audio/visual needs (if your presentation has been loaded onto the computer or if you have other needs, overhead, video, etc.).

Poster Presentations
The poster session will be the last part of the program and will be held during the reception from 6:00-7:00 PM on Friday, April 13, in the gym in Jerabeck. There will be a second poster session on Saturday, April 14, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Presenters are required to attend this session, stand by their poster and should be prepared to answer any questions of the audience.

The Undergraduate Research Committee is providing an easel with a 4 ft x 4 ft. foam core board for placement of your poster. So the maximum area display area for your poster is 4 ft X 4 ft. You should supply your own means of attaching your poster to the board; push pins or long pinned-thumbtacks should be sufficient (some pins will be available). Do not mount your presentation materials on heavy board, as it may be difficult to keep it in position.

You must place your poster on the display board between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. on Friday April 13. A member of the Undergraduate Research Committee will be there to assist you. If you cannot place your presentation at that time, please notify Dr. Romagni immediatelyThe posters will remain in place until noon Saturday, April 14, at which time it will be your responsibility to remove the poster. If you leave your poster, you may not be able to retrieve it later. Food and beverages will be available. A large crowd of faculty, students, visitors, and family members will walk around to look at the posters, ask you about your research, and talk about what a great job you’ve done this year. It is fun and something to remember!

As a member of the audience
Please be considerate of the oral presentation speakers. They have worked long and hard and may be nervous. Do not walk in front of a speaker, nor get up and leave in the middle of a presentation. Be careful not to bang open the door. Please listen attentively and treat them, as you would like to be treated if you were making the presentation.

All presenters should attend Big Bob's Barbeque on Saturday, April 14, from 4:00 - ??  During this time, the cash awards for best student posters and oral sessions will be hosted by the President.  You may bring family members or a guest.
