Dr. Beena George Presents Research on Outsourcing Software at Outsourcing Industry Conference

Dr. Beena GeorgeOutsourcing is a $6 trillion industry. Tapping into that market, Dr. Beena George, Cameron School of Business’ resident expert on outsourcing, has spent two years researching the software tools used by this rapidly growing global industry.

George, assistant professor of management and marketing, presented her research at the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) Governance Forum on Sept. 9 in Chicago.  IAOP has more than 40,000 members worldwide, and brings together the world’s leading outsourcing customers, providers and advisors.

George interviewed outsourcing software users, vendors and consultants and developed a survey to document how different organizations use various outsourcing management software tools. Following the conference, Dr. George has received positive feedback and additional interest in her research.

“This is a great opportunity to work toward the research ideal of marrying rigor with relevance; that is really fulfilling,” she said. “The collaboration with an industry organization like IAOP also ensures that the results of the study reach the people who can use it.”

Dr. George has taught at UST for six years. Dr. George earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kerala, India; an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a doctorate in business administration, management information systems from the University of Houston.
