Community Partners
The SOE participates in many joint ventures. Preparing Quality Educators (PQE) was a grant that combined K-16 educators to improve the quality of education in Houston. The Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers in Technology (PT3) was a partnership grant that improved instructional technology skills at UST, and allowed the SOE to put 8 courses on-line.
The SOE has partnerships with the Houston Independent School District (HIST), the Pasadena Independent School District (PISD), the Alief Independent School District (AISD), and the Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) to develop teachers through alternative certification programs. It has a similar partnership with Region IV Educational Service Center to do the same for school principals.
The SOE partners with different school districts to provide out-reach M.Ed. programs. These programs are designed to meet the needs of each district, and teaching is done in district facilities.
The SOE is part of an Articulation Agreement with the community colleges to offer a smooth and seamless transition from the community college to UST. The agreement identifies courses that should be taken at the community colleges that will transfer to UST. |
