Irish Studies Scholarships and Free Books
The first 15 credit-seeking students to sign up for Irish I are eligible for scholarships of $500 each. Free books are available to all Irish language credit and audit students. These scholarships and free books are made possible through of a grant from the Irish Government Department of Rural, Community and Gaeltacht Affairs.
 
The Center for Irish Studies Welcomes Irish Language Visiting Scholar Aoife Ní Ghloinn
Dia Duit! Learn Irish from the experts! Visiting Scholar Aoife Ní Ghloinn from Carlow, Ireland, will teach Irish I, II and Intermediate Irish starting in Fall 2008. Irish I classes begin on August 25, 2008. Professor Ní Ghloinn has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Irish language and music from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, and a Master’s degree, with distinction, in Irish and Celtic Studies from Queen’s University in Belfast. She has been selected not only for her Irish language skills, but also her cultural talents in music and singing.

Professor Ní Ghloinn also will teach Irish I, II and Intermediate Irish in Spring 2009. Additionally, she intends to develop an Irish music and culture course. Now is your chance to learn Irish and promote Irish culture! Contact the Director or Professor Ní Ghloinn!

Meet The Director
Lori Meghan GallagherLori Meghan Gallagher, J.D., is the Director of the Center for Irish Studies and an attorney. She teaches courses on Irish and Northern Irish history, politics, law and culture. She received a postgraduate degree from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland on a Rotary Foundation Scholarship and her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of New Mexico. Gallagher oversees the Irish Studies academic, cultural and study abroad programs.
