A Celtic Christmas with Danny O’Flaherty and Friends

The cast of A Celtic Christmas will celebrate the true Christmas spirit of the Celtic Nations of Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Cornwall, Brittany, Galicia, and the Isle of Man in a one-day only concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec 6, at Jones Hall on the UST campus. The show will tell the tales of the charming and unique yuletide customs that evolved over the centuries in the nations of the Celts.

 
UST Hosts Houston Grand Opera Showcase
Enjoy an evening filled with music theater at the Houston Grand Opera Showcase held at the University of St. Thomas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11 and 12, at Jones Hall, 3910 Yoakum.  A group of young Houston Grand Opera Studio artists will perform a wide range of scenes from a variety of operas in an intimate setting. The Houston Grand Opera Studio is a development program dedicated to the advancement of young artists with the potential for major careers in opera or musical theater profession.
 
UST Makes NAIA Champion of Character List
The University of St. Thomas has been named a Champion of Character Institution by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for the third year in a row. UST was one of the 231 institutions that made the list for the 2008-2009 school year. NAIA developed the Champions of Character program in an effort to instill an understanding of character values in sports.
 
UST Alumnus Drew Wilson Wins Jefferson Award
University of St. Thomas alumnus Drew Wilson has upheld the spirit of volunteerism which was instilled by his family and reinforced by his University of St. Thomas experience. Serving on numerous nonprofit organization boards, chairing events and volunteering weekly, Wilson balances his commitment to the community with his full-time job as an international corporate law consultant for Thomson Reuters. His numerous volunteer efforts were recently recognized with the prestigious Jefferson Award.
 
Consider Christmas Gifts That Make A Difference
When pondering gift ideas this holiday season, consider meaningful gifts that make a difference and benefit University of St. Thomas programs. Proceeds from purchases of Saint Basil Coffee will benefits UST’s MicroCredit Program and the Peruvian Education Project. Proceeds from sales of the St. Basil Chapel Book, available in the University Bookstore, will benefit scholarships.

Daniella Guzman Finds Success as Bilingual Journalist

The UST bilingual journalism program enabled alumna Daniella Guzman to combine her strengths and interests in Spanish and communication to create a career in bilingual journalism. Currently working as a Channel 2 KPRC reporter and weekend anchor, Guzman earned a joint major in communication and Spanish in 2006.
