MBA Gives Harris Confidence to Launch Business

People say timing is everything, but Stanley Harris doesn’t buy it. He doesn’t wait for the stars to align, for a sign or the perfect moment to make the next move. Despite lingering concerns about an economic recovery, Harris, who earned an MBA in May, recently launched Mint Ventures LLC, an import/export and real estate business.

 
GRACE Graduates First Cohort of Catholic Educators
For the last two years, the first cohort of the Gulf Region Academy for Catholic Education (GRACE) has lived in community while simultaneously finishing a master’s degree in Catholic education, teaching in a Catholic school, and deepening their spiritual lives. They took the final step together at commencement on May 15.
 
Social Justice Conference Examines Environment
The 2010 Rev. William J. Young Social Justice Summer Conference titled, "Caring for God's Creation: Catholic Social Teaching and Environmental Justice," is a two-day conference to be held June 10 - 11. Keynote speakers are Dr. Shrader-Frechette from the University of Notre Dame, and Walter Grazer, author of Catholics Going Green.

MicroCredit Beneficiaries Produce Habanero Salsa
Delicious! Hach Ki, a new habanero salsa, is about to hit the market. Small loans granted by the University of St. Thomas MicroCredit Program and the Ayuda para Ayudar Foundation will enable Mayan women in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico to produce habanero salsa as a sustainable source of income. Painter and illustrator Sister Mary Roberta Connors, FSE, volunteered to design the label.
 
Alumna Named Among Houstonís Top Leaders
University of St. Thomas alumna Marty Thompson has come to value character in her personal, professional and civic life. And her peers have taken notice. Thompson has been named to the Houston Business Journal’s distinguished 40 Under 40 list. The list identifies 40 young, respected Houstonian business leaders who excel in their industries and show dynamic leadership in their communities.
 
JP II Forum Explores Future of Catholic Education
The John Paul II Forum will host distinguished Notre Dame Scholar Dr. Alfred Freddoso at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9 in Jones Hall, 3910 Yoakum. Freddoso will speak about “Notre Dame and the Future of Catholic Education.”
