The University not only increased financial aid available to all eligible students by 21 percent for the 2011-2012 academic year, UST also awarded eight full-tuition scholarships to top incoming freshmen. |

| Second Collection Raises Funds for Scholarships |

Second Collection donations from generous parishioners in the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese have helped open doors and provide greater opportunity for students seeking a private, Catholic college education. On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11, parishes in the Archdiocese are invited to support Catholic higher education by passing the collection plate a second time.

| UST Students Volunteer at Muscular Dystrophy Camp |

For one week in June, two University of St. Thomas students forged lifetime friendships and brightened the lives of children with neuromuscular diseases. Sarah Lutz, a junior education major, and Rosemary Tran, a senior biology major, served as counselors at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp from June 6-12. |

| HCC Transfer Students Eligible for Nursing Scholarships |

The Houston Community College/University of St. Thomas Foster Scholars Program will enable five Houston Community College transfer students to complete their degree in nursing at the University of St. Thomas. A $260,000 gift from Harriet and Joe Foster will provide full-tuition scholarships for five HCC students who transfer to complete their undergraduate degree in nursing within two years.

| UST Reschedules Performing Arts Benefit for Dec. 14 |

To celebrate the unveiling of a planned Performing Arts and Conference Center at the University of St. Thomas, world-renowned soprano and Houston Grand Opera favorite Ana Maria Martinez will perform a benefit concert at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, in Zilkha Hall of the Hobby Center.
