Student Commencement Speaker Applications Due
Wednesday, March 19, 2014 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Graduates after 2012 Commencement Ceremony An important part of our commencement preparation is the selection of a student speaker. This speaker will address the graduating class, parents, university faculty and staff, and special guests by giving a short speech during the commencement ceremonies.

Represent the student body by sharing your UST experience, offering your vision for the future, or simply giving your words of encouragement and motivation.

Qualification Requirements: December 2013 Graduates and all May and August 2014 graduating students who file the "Intent to Graduate" form by the 2014 deadline.

The Office of Student Affairs will accept student speaker applications until 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 19. Please be aware that due to the time required for the selection process, this must be a firm deadline. All interested December 2013 graduates and 2014 graduates (Undergraduate and Graduate students) should prepare a five-minute speech and submit the following information to the Office of Student Affairs:

  • Full Name
  • A draft of your five-minute speech (double-spaced)
  • Major
  • Phone number
  • E-mail address
  • Home mailing address
  • Resumé (including activities and UST honors)

You have the option of submitting these materials in hard copy, or electronically at studentaffairs@stthom.edu with the subject “2014 Commencement Student Speaker.” A committee will conduct an initial screening and then interview finalists starting the week of March 24. We expect to select a single speaker and an alternate by early April.
