Northern Ireland Conflict and Peace: Lessons Learned
Thursday, November 14, 2013 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
On Thursday, November 14, 2013 the William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies will host "Northern Ireland Conflict and Peace: Lessons Learned," by Rev. Harold Good, former President of the Methodist Church of Ireland and award-winning peacemaker (and 2013 Irish Gala Honoree) in Cullen Hall at 7:30 pm.

Drawing upon his experience of conflict and peace in Northern Ireland, the United States and around the world, peacemaker Rev. Harold Good will discuss lessons learned from those who have worked to build and maintain peace, as well as outside observers looking in, including visitors to Northern Ireland such as our UST study abroad students for whom Rev. Good has served as an extraordinary mentor.  As our students have recognized, these lessons can be applied to other areas of conflict, whether in our homes, our communities or around the world.

Rev. Good was born in Derry/Londonderry.  He is a former President of the Methodist Church in Ireland who has served churches in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the United States.  He has received the René Cassin Human Rights Award, the Gandhi Foundation Peace Award and the World Methodist Peace Prize. Rev. Good and his wife, Clodagh, are the William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies 2013 Irish Gala honorees.
