Economy, Politics & the Desire for Happiness
Thursday, October 25, 2012 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
The Crossroads Cultural Center-Houston, University of St. Thomas Office of Academic Affairs and Center for Business Ethics invite you to “Economy, Politics and the Desire for Happiness” at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25 in Anderson Hall, Room 103.
Many people today have the perception that their economic and political destinies are in the hands of powerful forces far removed from them, and over which they have little or no control.
In this situation what can we do? Why should we be interested in politics or economics? What difference can we make? But above all: from where can we start to rebuild our society? Should we leave the task to experts and bureaucrats? From where do we recover the courage to go into reality as protagonist not as spectator?
With our discussion we want to rediscover again the ideal dimension of politics and economics and to remind to ourselves that these two are ultimately about our desire for happiness, freedom, truth, and justice.
