Women's Basketball vs. Wiley College Be the Match Game
Thursday, December 13, 2012 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Cheer on the women's basketball team as they play
Wiley College at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 in Jerabeck Gym.
This is also the "Be the Match" game. Every year, thousands of people of all ages are diagnosed with Leukemia and other life-threatening diseases. For many, a marrow transplant is their only hope for a cure. Seventy percent of people do not have a matching donor in their family. These people depend on “Be the Match” to find a match to give them a second chance at life.
The National Marrow Donor Program is an nonprofit organization dedicated to making transplants possible for patients from all races and ethnicities. What makes our registry different is that you are most likely (95 percent) going to match someone of your own race and ethnicity. There will be a representative from the Gulf Coast Bone Marrow Registry at the game to sign potential donors up for the registry. If you would like to join the “Be the Match” registry you have to be between the ages of 18-44. Please consider registering and we hope to see you at the basketball game.
