CFC Faithful Citizenship Luncheon & Lecture
Wednesday, October 3, 2012 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
The Center for Faith and Culture Faithful Citizenship Luncheon and Lecture will be held at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 3 in the Art Gallery. Dr. John Borelli will lecture about “Vatican II: The Council of Dialogue.”
Dr. John Borelli will reflect on the importance of Vatican II and the various initiatives for dialogue that flowed into the council. He will also discuss the leadership of Pope John XXIII and Pope Paul VI, especially how the work of the Secretariat for Christian Unity played a decisive role in the outcomes of the council. Borelli will note how for fifty years the Catholic Church has been a major factor in ecumenical dialogue to restore Christian unity, in dialogue with Jews and in interreligious dialogue with peoples of all faiths.
Dr. John Borelli is the Special Assistant for Interreligious Initiatives to President John J. DeGioia of Georgetown University. He works on several university projects related to Catholic identity and the university’s Jesuit heritage and teaches courses on dialogue and comparative theology. In addition, Borelli serves as national coordinator for interreligious dialogue for the U.S. Jesuit Conference.
