The University of St. Thomas understands that the application and admissions process can be confusing and sometimes challenging for first-time freshman. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has designated freshman counselors to guide you through your application. You can contact your counselor with questions regarding UST’s academic degrees and programs, how to apply, scholarships and financial aid, university housing or any other concerns.
Arthur Ortiz
Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Arthur OrtizArthur Ortiz, Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management, has worked in the University of St. Thomas Admissions Office since March of 1999. The Basilian Fathers, the founders of UST, ran the parish Ortiz grew up in, and they continue to be influential in his life. During his tenure at the University, Ortiz has overseen Catholic and home-schooled student recruitment. He enjoys keeping up with admissions trends in higher education and has presented on various topics at several state and national conferences. Arthur is a graduate of the University of Houston–Clear Lake.

Jessica CorrellHello, my name is Jessica Correll and I am a Freshman Admissions Counselor at the University of St. Thomas. I earned a B.B.A in General Business Administration and am currently pursuing my M.S. in Accounting from St. Thomas. Working with high school students during the college search is exciting, energizing, and unbelievably rewarding. I am thrilled to be your St. Thomas resource during this exciting time of your life! Mi'Chelle BonnetteHello! I am an admissions counselor for incoming freshmen here at the University of St. Thomas. I consider myself a “Gulf Coast local,” and I enjoy our regional culture. I earned my B.A. in English with a concentration in literature. The liberal arts education I received has been particularly important in my own pursuits, which gives me a deep appreciation for the curriculum here at UST.

Marcos Canales
Marcos CanalesHello. My name is Marcos Canales, and I am a Freshman Admission Counselor at the University of St. Thomas. I earned a B.A. in Sociology, and M.S. in Education with an emphasis on student services. I have been working in higher education for over ten years. During my career, I’ve dedicated myself to helping college students realize their potential for success, and I’m excited to be a part of a school that also has a passion for helping people achieve their academic goals.

Attending college can be an exciting adventure, and my role as an admissions counselor is to make sure that the transition from high school to the University of St. Thomas goes as smoothly as possible for incoming students. Emily Stickle
Emily StickleHello, my name is Emily Stickle!  I am the Home School Admission Counselor at the University of St. Thomas.  During my undergraduate I earned a B.A. double majoring in political Science and psychology and recently completed my MLA in public administration at the University of St. Thomas.  As a former home school student myself, I understand the value of student directed learning especially when attending college and I will be here to answer any of your questions. 

The college admission process can at times seem daunting however my role as an admissions counselor is to ensure that application process to the University of St. Thomas is an easy as possible.  Many student also value the time spent visiting the campus, please contact me to learn more about the opportunities to learn more about the University of St Thomas.   I look forward to working together.
