School of Education ScholarshipsThe University of St. Thomas is committed to make your education affordable and investment in your future.  The School of Education recognizes the hard work and high achievement from our students.  We award several merit-based scholarships to undergraduates and graduates.

School of Education Annual Scholarship

The School of Education scholarship will be for financial need, merit, or study abroad to students maintaining a GPA of at least a 3.25 at the undergraduate level and a 3.5 at the graduate level.

 
Strudler Family Scholarship

Dr. Ruth Strudler, former Dean of the School of Education, devoted her career to children with learning and language disabilities.  She started this scholarship for undergraduates interested in specializing in special education.  Applicants must maintain a 3.3 or above after completing 54 hours of undergraduate work. Application deadline is April 1, 2014.

 
Ellen and Scipio de Kanter Dual Language Teacher Preparation Scholarship

Established by Dr. Ellen de Kanter, longtime director for the School of Education Dual Language Program, this scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students who enroll in the actual field of study in dual language. Applicants must maintain a 3.3 or above after completing 54 hours of undergraduate work. Application deadline is April 1, 2014.

 
Robert Lee Frost Secondary Education Scholarship

This scholarship is in tribute to the great poet Robert Lee Frost and in celebration of future middle and high school language arts educators.  This scholarship may be awarded to continuing or transfer undergraduate or graduate students, with preference given to undergraduate students. 
Application deadline is April 1, 2014.

 
Fondren Foundation Scholarship

The Fondren Scholarship is available to graduate students with a GPA of 3.5 or above after completing at least 9 hours of graduate work. Application deadline is April 1, 2014.​

 
Rev. Dennis Andrews, CSB Scholarship

In memory of the Rev. Dennis Andrews, CSB ’65, the School of Education wishes to recognize and honor Fr. Andrews’ devotion to the preparation of quality educators and his great interest in Catholic education. This scholarship will be awarded to Catholic educators within the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston who meet all entrance requirements of the School of Education. Recipients must maintain a 3.5 GPA after completion of 9 hours of graduate work in order to retain the scholarship. Application deadline is April 1, 2014.

 
Mary Jean Lantz Memorial Scholarship

The Mary Jean Lantz Memorial Scholarship is available to graduate students with a GPA of 3.5 or above after completing at least 9 hours of graduate work. Application deadline is April 1, 2014.​

 
Kappa Delta Pi/Anna Dewald Scholarship

The Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship is for members of the honor society and established to honor Dr. Anna L. Dewald, longtime Dean of the School of Education.  Recipients must maintain a grade point average of at least a 3.25 for an undergraduate student and a 3.5 for a graduate student.

Application deadline is March 21, 2014.

 
UST Alumni Association Scholarship

The Alumni Association Scholarship assists sophomores or juniors who possess the scholastic merit and willingness to continue their education but have encountered substantial financial difficulty in pursuing or completing their degree.  Learn more
