Begin your IT career with Cisco at UST! The University of St. Thomas now offers Cisco IT certifications through the Cisco Networking Academy on the University of St. Thomas campus. Certifications include the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Technician (CCT).
All students will start with the Fundamentals of Connecting Computers to Networks. Imagine building a computer and then connecting it securely to a network. This exciting first step could lead towards a rewarding IT career! Because a sure way to excel—no matter which area of IT you choose—is to learn the right computer fundamentals. IT Essentials will cover these steps as well as share the career skills needed for entry-level IT jobs. Students will enjoy working with Cisco Networking Academy advanced simulation tools and having multiple hands-on labs to hone troubleshooting skills. No prerequisites or computer knowledge required.
The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Pathway will prepare students for a networking career by introducing how networks operate. This pathway consists of a 3-course CCNA series that introduces architectures, models, protocols, and networking elements – functions needed to support the operations and priorities of Fortune 500 companies to small innovative retailers. Students will get the chance to build simple local area networks (LANs), and perform basic configurations for routers and switches by developing a working knowledge of IP addressing schemes and foundational network security. No prerequisites are required. After completing all three CCNA courses, students will be ready to take the CCNA Certification.
The Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) Pathway consists of a 15-hour course that focuses on the skills required for onsite support and maintenance of Cisco routers, switches, and operating environments. Student must identify the Cisco router, switch models, accessories, cabling, and interfaces. No prerequisites are required.
