Education Student Organizations

The School of Education and Human Services encourages students to become actively involved in student organizations including:

Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE)

ATPE works to get young men and women interested in the teaching profession. It supports its members by providing them with opportunities to develop personally and professionally and by teaching them the history, ethics and programs of the organized teaching profession.

Bilingual Educators Student Organization (BESO)

BESO's main objective is to share information and resources among students and faculty members interested or involved in bilingual/bi-cultural education. It also serves as a resource for its members by creating professional development opportunities for them. The organization is an affiliate of the Texas Association for Bilingual Education and the National Association for Bilingual Education.

Kappa Delta Pi National Education Honor Society (KDP)

This is an international honor society in education, represented on campus by Pi Lambda Chapter. Membership is by invitation only to outstanding senior-level and graduate students in education. The focus of Kappa Delta Pi is one of service to the academic community, highlighting literacy. The society recognizes excellence in education through a program of speakers, scholarships and awards.
