500X330_PostBaccThe Post-Baccalaureate Program at the University of St. Thomas is designed for any student who has completed at least a bachelor’s degree (or will by the time they begin courses) but wants to take additional undergraduate courses, seek a second bachelor’s degree or take pre-requisite courses for graduate school.

Types of Post-Baccalaureates:

  • Degree-Seeking Post-Baccalaureate – a student seeking a second bachelor’s degree or certificate in Pre-Anesthesiologist Assistant, Pre-Dental, Pre-Medical or Pre-Physician Assistant.
  • Non-Degree-Seeking Post-Baccalaureate – a student not looking for a degree but wishes to take a few undergraduate courses (most likely to fulfill requirements for a graduate program).
  • Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate – a student wanting to apply to a professional health program (Medical, Dental, etc.) and needs the pre-requisite course, experience, etc.
  • Nursing Post-Baccalaureate – a student seeking an undergraduate nursing degree.
Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate

500X330_PB_PHDetermined to get into medical, dental or other health profession programs? You’ll face tough competition, and these schools set high standards for entry.

As part of the Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate Program, you will be assigned an HPAC faculty advisor who will help you meet application requirements and guide you through the process of creating a standout application to any Texas medical, dental or health profession programs. HPAC provides many opportunities for Post-Bacc including mock MCAT/DAT exams, discounts for MCAT/DAT prep courses, mock interviews as well as various workshops throughout the year. Postbacs are also welcome to join the myriad of health professions-related clubs and organizations on campus.

Please note: The minimum GPA requirement for admission to the Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate program has been updated to a 3.0 minimum GPA for your undergraduate degree.

Second Degree Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN)

500X330_PB_ABSNThe University of St. Thomas Houston Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is designed to provide non-nurses a quality nursing education that can be completed in 12 months. Our full-time program is best suited for students who already have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree and the desire to transition into a new nursing career.

As a student enrolled in our accelerated BSN program, you can expect immersion in a robust nursing curriculum that will challenge you and change you. Via ABSN@UST’s hybrid learning model, you’ll learn key nursing theory concepts through online coursework then apply that knowledge during valuable experiential learning opportunities.

While ABSN@UST welcomes students of all religious backgrounds, it’s informed by the teachings of our University’s founders, the Basilian Fathers.
