  • Former active military (with or without a GI Bill®)
  • Active duty service members
  • Students who wish to enroll in ROTC (undergraduate or graduate students)

The Veteran Success Center is staffed by veterans dedicated to connecting you with the resources and support you need on campus and throughout the Greater Houston community.

Office hours are:

  • Mon-Thurs: 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Fri: 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

The University of St. Thomas does not accept the Hazlewood Act, but we do accept the major GI Bills®. You can use any of the following GI Bills® to complete your undergraduate degree, complete your graduate degree or pursue a graduate degree for the first time:

Yellow Ribbon Program

The VA has a cap on the amount of money they can pay per student, per academic year.

However, if you have a Post-9/11 GI Bill® that pays 100% of your tuition costs, the Yellow Ribbon Program permits the University and the VA to provide matching funds to cover any costs that exceed the VA cap so you have no out-of-pocket costs.

Aerial view of University of St. Thomas in Houston, TexasROTC stands for Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. UST’s 2-year ROTC program puts you on a path to direct commissioning into the military with a guaranteed slot as an officer. To qualify for enrollment, you must:

  • Be a UST undergraduate or graduate student
  • Have 2 years remaining on your degree plan
  • Have a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Meet military height and weight requirements
  • Complete and pass a U.S. Army physical fitness test
  • Be a U.S. citizen

As an ROTC student, you’ll participate in drills and take military science classes at the University of Houston while simultaneously completing the academic portion of your degree requirements at UST. If you choose to live on campus at UST, the University will waive your room and board costs. If you already live on campus at UST, your room and board costs will be waived once you enroll.
