Living on campus at UST is safe, convenient and fun. All residence halls have cameras that are monitored by a Campus Security Authority 24/7. Our housing is for all students, not just those out of state! About 50% of the students who live on campus are from the Houston area.

We provide housing to students of all classifications: freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students. If you are outside of the 18-25 age range, please submit an Age Appeal Request Form.

Mardi Gras bingo inside Guinan Hall dorm at University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas If you’re not from the Houston area, you may be wondering how the cost of living on campus compares to renting an apartment in the neighborhood (Neartown-Montrose).

Not only do you have the convenience of rolling out of bed and walking to class in a matter of minutes, living on campus at UST is actually more cost-effective than living off-campus.

While there are many apartments available in the area, most involve a long-term lease and do not include monthly utilities.

What if I don’t like my roommate?

Before you move in, we can pair you with someone different. After you move in, you’ll need to work with the RA on your floor.

If we’re full, you can try to find someone to swap with. We can also do a mediation where we’ll put a contract in place to negotiate what the rules are going to be between you and your roommate.

Are guests permitted in the rooms?

Yes. Guests are allowed until midnight on school nights and 2:00 a.m. on weekends.

How quickly do rooms fill up?

For fall enrollment, we recommend having a signed housing contract completed by July 1. Housing options could be limited after that, and we do work on a first-come, first-serve basis.
