Professor Ó Néill's research focuses on cultural iterations of the Irish language in literature and history. He has many years’ experience in teaching the Irish language, and through his background in Applied Languages (French, Irish & Japanese) he has developed a broad understanding of approaches to language learning and instruction. Ó Néill also teaches courses on Irish literature that provide students with an opportunity to study key texts from Irish poetry, fiction and drama in conjunction with the scholarly debates that frame a critical and analytical approach to Ireland and Irish literature.
