Dr. Cesare Wright holds undergraduate degrees from Rice University and completed his graduate education at University of Rochester (Ph.D.) and University of Southern California (M.F.A.). He returned to Rice to serve for seven years as a lecturer in the George R. Brown School of Engineering and the Leadership & Outreach Specialist for the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL). Dr. Wright holds faculty appointments at Univ. of St. Thomas and Univ. of Rochester While at Rice, he co-developed and launched the RCEL Certificate Program in Engineering Leadership, which is endorsed by the National Academy of Engineering and is regarded as one of the premier leadership development programs in the U.S. In addition to teaching courses and managing industry partnerships, he created and led the engineering internship program for RCEL, which placed 100% of students for five years straight. Dr. Wright also created the internationally acclaimed Rice Drone Camp and Rice ELITE programs for K12 students. In partnership with Microsoft, Dr. Wright has developed and led a variety of technology education and outreach programs, including Microsoft FAST, Microsoft Drone Academy, Microsoft EPIC, and Service First. His research interests center on the intersection of technology and culture, including such topics as digital media, artificial intelligence, drone technology, eSports/gaming, and virtual & augmented reality. Dr. Wright is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker, whose work has been featured on Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, French TV 2, National Geographic, Documentary Channel, Spiegel TV, and several international film festivals. He publishes and speaks on topics including STEM education, visual anthropology, veteran employment, rape prevention and anti-bullying, film production & theory, and disaster relief.
