Giving Opportunities

There are many areas where your gift will have a lasting impact on the university and continue to support our mission of educating leaders of faith and character.

The St. Thomas Fund

The St. Thomas Fund Investing in Tomorrow’s Leaders Today! The St. Thomas Fund allows current and future students to benefit from an education rooted in the Basilian tradition and Catholic values. This general scholarship fund is the cornerstone of our student financial aid program. Last year, the university awarded more than $14 million in institutional aid to deserving students.

Your investment in our students through The St. Thomas Fund enables us to provide them with a high-quality, liberal arts education. These future leaders of faith and character are making a positive impact on our community and around the world.

For more information on the St. Thomas Fund, please contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at give@stthom.edu or 713-525-3100. Learn about The President’s Circle, UST’s premier annual giving society, below.

Presidentís Circle

President’s Circle investors support the University of St. Thomas at a leadership level with an annual gift of $1,000 or more. Leadership giving is paramount to UST’s ability to effectively meet vital funding needs as they arise within our schools, centers and programs – and to adequately fund scholarships.

Your leadership gift is a vote of confidence in UST that encourages others to follow your lead. President’s Circle investors help us educate and develop students who are not only personally and professionally successful, but who are also focused on making a positive difference in the world.

Endowed scholarships provide perpetual contributions to support students in need. Endowed scholarships can be established and named with a gift of $25,000 and are considered fully endowed at $250,000. Scholarships of this nature help to ensure that many generations of students receive the assistance they need.

Endowed Chairs

Endowed chairs and professorships provide dependable, consistent income for the maintenance of a permanent faculty position in a given school or discipline. Chairs and professorships may be endowed at the following levels:

  • Eminent Chair: $3,000,000
  • Distinguished Chair:  $2,000,000
  • Named Chair:  $1,500,000
  • Named Professorship: $500,000
Endowed Programs

Endowed commitments to specific programs represent the university’s and the donor’s commitment to a unique discipline and provide ongoing support for such areas as business ethics, Irish studies or social justice.

Capital Gifts

To be considered for a naming opportunity associated with a new building, the donor customarily provides a minimum gift equal to 25 percent of the cost of the project. Buildings, other facilities or parts thereof, whether new or existing, are named or renamed only by action of the board of directors on recommendation of the president.

Property and Land Acquisition

Property and land acquisition provides an important opportunity for the university to expand its boundaries and secure additional space for faculty, staff and students.
