Dr. Shannon Forbes teaches 20th century modern British literature and theory, Irish Studies, and courses for the Women, Culture and Society Program. Her last major research project was her book, which explored the transition period at the beginning of the 20th century as women watched their sense of self shift from a monolithic entity to a more dynamic one. It focuses on the works of Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf and James Joyce. She also researches cultural and narrative theory. She is currently analyzing different modes of subjectivity and rhetorical purposes illustrated in contemporary Irish memoirs.
