Application Deadlines

EARLY DECISION

UST accepts students on a rolling basis. To be considered for early decision for the Fall 2025 term, please have your application and all required materials submitted by March 1, 2025.

REGULAR DECISION

UST accepts students on a rolling basis. To be considered for the Fall 2025 term, please have your application and all required materials submitted by August 1, 2025.

SPRING 2026

Spring 2026 applications will open on July 1, 2025. Check back soon for more information. Or find your counselor here to ask any additional questions.

Application Checklist

OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS

Transcripts are required for admission processing. Make sure to include all institutions, including dual credit. You may submit an unofficial transcript to render an admission decision, but your final official transcript will be required for enrollment.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Submit a personal statement (1-2 pages) answering one or all of the below questions:

  1. Explain why you want to attend the University of St. Thomas-Houston (UST)?
  2. What do you want to study at UST and why?
  3. How do you plan to be a successful student at UST?
TEST SCORES

Please submit test scores using the SAT Code 6880 and the ACT code 4238

All applicants are eligible to select Test Optional for their First-Year application. Two things should be noted if you select Test Optional:

  1. You may have to provide an additional essay explaining why test scores are not reflective of your academic ability.
  2. An interview in person or over the phone with an admissions counselor may be requested of you before an admissions decision can be rendered.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International students will need to also submit one of the following:

  • TOEFL: (internet based): minimum score of 79/ (ITP): minimum of 550
  • IELTS: minimum score of 6.5
  • ELS: certificate of completion level 112 required
  • Duolingo: minimum score of 125
  • SAT: 1140 (ERWS + MSS)
  • ACT: 23 (Composite)
  • US College Credit: must have completed at least 24 transferable credit hours that includes English Composition I and II. You must have at least a B in each course.

For purposes of proficiency requirements, international applicants are exempt only if they have earned, or will have earned by the time they begin study at UST, a high school diploma and/or post-secondary degree from the countries listed on our site. The diploma or degree must come from a country where English is the sole official language and the primary conversational language of the country.

Students using the UST online application will have the opportunity to upload most supplementary items using their admissions account.
