GRACE Program Graduates Future Educators
The Class of 2011 GRACE graduates unanimously agreed that the program has helped them succeed as Catholic teachers and grow as individuals. Read more about these students who spent the last two years earning a Master in Education while teaching in Catholic Schools and living together in community.
Alumni Association Awards $23,000 in Scholarships

The University of St. Thomas Alumni Association has awarded their annual scholarship to eight students for the 2011-2012 academic year totaling $23,000. The UST Alumni Association Award assists sophomores and juniors who possess the scholastic merit and willingness to continue their education, but have encountered substantial financial difficulty completing their degree.

Baxter Trust Gives $75,000 to Nursing
The Baxter Trust has awarded a $75,000 grant for the planned University of St. Thomas School of Nursing to train nursing preceptors who will support nursing students as they engage in clinical learning inpatient care settings.
MBA Students Receive Business Ethics Scholarships

Two Cameron School of Business MBA students –Scott Saleski and George Sackllah – were awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the Greater Houston Business Ethics Roundtable (GHBER). The students were nominated for the scholarship based on their participation in UST’s Center for Business Ethics, the Business Ethics Society and their joint research on the business ethics behind organ donation.

Knights of Columbus Chapter Hosts July 4 BBQ

Spend Independence Day watching the city’s fireworks displays with a spectacular rooftop view in the heart of Houston. The UST Knights of Columbus invite you to the annual July 4 Barbeque on the Moran Center rooftop at 5 p.m. The meal is complimentary but donations will be accepted.

Houston Soccer Player of the Year Joins Celts

In This Issue:

Jason Taffet, who graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory School with a 4.0 grade point average, will play goalkeeper for the Celts in the fall. Taffet’s performance on the field has garnered significant praise and recognition including the coveted title of the Houston Chronicle’s All-Greater Houston Boys Soccer Player of the Year.
