Spring 2017 Irish Studies Courses
The Flynn Center for Irish Studies is offering scholarships of $750 to the first 10 students who sign up and qualify for scholarships for each of the following spring 2017 courses. A student may be eligible for more than one scholarship (if one signs up for more than one).

University of St. Thomas Irish Gala Celebrates Irish Religious Throughout Texas
More than 300 friends of the University of St. Thomas William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies attended the annual Irish Gala on Nov. 3 at The Houstonian Hotel. The theme for this year’s Gala was “Celebrating Irish Religious Throughout Texas.” This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Center for Irish Studies.

Gala Celebrates Ireland with Special Tribute to William J. Flynn
Over 300 friends of the University of St. Thomas William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies attended the annual Irish Gala on Nov. 4 at The Houstonian Hotel for a Gala “Celebrating Ireland through its People.” The Gala paid special tribute to William J. Flynn, the Center’s namesake, for his tireless commitment to the peace process in Ireland. 

William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies at the University of St. Thomas Appoints Irish Language Scholar
The University of St. Thomas William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies has appointed Jonathan O’Neill, MA as an Irish Studies scholar. Originally from Counties Galway and Clare in Ireland, O’Neill joins the Center from the University of Limerick. His extensive teaching background includes coursework in beginner, intermediate and advanced Irish Language as well as course instruction on Irish literature and culture.

The William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies at the University of St. Thomas in Houston is the only Irish Studies academic program in the Southwest. The Center serves as a focal point for the study and appreciation of Irish and Northern Irish history, literature, politics, law, language, music, art, drama, culture and society.
