Mass with Pope Francis The theme of the XXXI World Youth Day Krakow 2016 is: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Mt 5:7). Mercy is a good summation of Pope Francis’ two-year pontificate, and Krakow is the home of the appearance of Jesus to St. Faustina in the Divine Mercy. Read how Pope Francis kicked off World Youth Day registration. Madrid Video St. Thomas continues the tradition of sending students to World Youth Day. In 2011, students, staff and faculty walked the famous Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain on their way to WYD Madrid, joining 2 million Catholic youth in Spain. World Youth Day 2016 University of St. Thomas students have the opportunity to take part in the upcoming World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow, Poland. Inaugurated by Saint John Paul II, World Youth Day is an international Catholic gathering in which millions of Catholics and other people of goodwill take part in celebrating the rich vitality of the Christian faith through numerous religious events: - Praise and worship concerts
- Talks with notable religious individuals
- Overnight adoration
- Mass with the Holy Father
In this regard, World Youth Day is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all who desire to enrich and immerse their lives in the Life of Christ. Before visiting Poland, UST pilgrims will spend four days in Rome, visiting basilicas and other holy sites. | Ways to Support Pilgrims To cover transportation, housing and food, the cost for each pilgrim is $4,500. UST Campus Ministry is fundraising and seeking financial support from dedicated donors who are willing to make this dream a reality for students. We invite you to prayerfully consider helping fund the pilgrimage for UST students.
