Residence Halls

Guinan HallUST students have five exciting and different residence hall options.  Each community strives to meet a student’s spiritual, academic and social needs while providing safe and secure on-campus housing. Guinan Hall, Young Hall, Clare Hall, and the Townhome Communities, and Graduate housing offer students convenient access to classes and campus activities, while fostering engaging relationships between students, staff, and faculty.

Young Hall

Living on campus allows UST students to take part in friendships, planned and spontaneous events, fun activities to help students meet one another and a strong respectful community supported by the values of Catholic teaching.

  • Wi-Fi is provided at each of our residence hall options.
  • While on residential Wi-Fi students have access to Res Life Cinema which provides access to some popular TV shows and Movies. 
  • All residence halls have cameras that are monitored by a Campus Security Authority 24-7. 
  • Housing rent is charged on a per semester basis, and a $300 security deposit is required to live on campus.
  • All Bedrooms are furnished with an extra-long twin-size bed, desk, chair, and dresser per student.
  • With the exception of Guinan Hall, which is a traditional residence hall, units have Living and Dining rooms that are furnished (dining table, couches, chairs).
  • With the exception of Graduate housing Meal Plans are required for all halls. 
  • With the exception of Graduate housing all spaces require students to be between the ages of 18-25.  If you would like to enquire about a possible age appeal please contact lopezaa@stthom.edu.

Guinan Hall

Guinan Hall is the building where all traditional freshmen reside.  The Guinan room design includes balconies opening to beautifully landscaped courtyards with a view of campus or the Rothko Chapel. Rooms are multiple-occupancy with private bathrooms. Extra-long twin-size beds can be assembled for bunking, mid-loft, or as traditional, single-standing units. All rooms have built-in closets and individually controlled thermostats.

Guinan Hall Amenities

  • In-room Internet connection ports.
  • In-room MicroFridge (mini-refrigerator with a freezer and microwave oven).
  • In-room cable television connection (access to 64 channels).
  • Key card entry security.
  • On-site free laundry room.
  • Community kitchen for resident use, in addition to Meal Plan.
  • On site Chapel, with Wednesday Community Mass.
  • Study rooms, a computer lab, conference room, and media room.

Young Hall

Young Hall is located at 4200 Mt. Vernon Street on the south side of campus and is available for upper-class and non-traditional-aged students that want to continue to benefit from a Residence Life community. Residents can choose from one of three floor plans all of which include: full-service kitchens with a dishwasher, stove and refrigerator. One Young apartment is also dedicated to our faith based Living Learning Communities (Households).

  • 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units are available.
  • Two structurally single rooms are available in Young Hall upon request.

Clare Hall

Clare Hall is located at 1210 Colquitt on the south side of campus and is available for upper-class and non-traditional-aged female students that want to continue to benefit from a Residence Life community. Residents can choose from a double or triple occupancy bedroom, and enjoy suite style living with: multiple full-service kitchens, living and dining rooms, and laundry room.

Townhome Communities

The Townhome Communities (John, Aquinas, and Therese) are located at 1132 Colquitt on the south side of campus and are available for upper-class and non-traditional-aged students that want to continue to benefit from a Residence Life community. All three of these communities are dedicated to our faith based Living Learning Communities (Households).  John and Aquinas are for male students, and Therese is for female students.  Residents can choose from a double or single occupancy bedroom, and enjoy: full-service kitchens with a dishwasher, stove and refrigerator.

  • ​​Faith based LLC (household involvement).
  • Most like a traditional house.

Graduate Housing

Graduate Housing is located at the corner of Graustark and Branard street adjacent to Guinan hall.  This is the building available for Graduate students and non-traditional-aged students that want to continue to benefit from a Residence Life community, and proximity to campus. This option has very limited availability, and the gender is determined by the first contracted residents. Residents can choose from a double or single occupancy bedroom, and enjoy the comforts of home with a kitchen and living room.
