The Office of Residence Life supports the mission of the University of St. Thomas by creating a living-learning community where every individual feels secure, independent, respected and at home.
Graduate Assistants work in the Office of Residence Life and assist with the overall administration and daily operation of on-campus residence halls, which includes but is not limited to assisting with the fall/spring and summer housing contracting process, addressing resident concerns and directing the work of Office and Front Desk undergraduate student staff. They also supervise a student team of either Peer Ministers or Living Learning Community Mentors and actively work to support these students’ spiritual, academic, and social welfare.
Residence Life Coordinator
Julie Parra is from Bogota, Colombia, and moved to Houston, Texas when she was eight. Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Houston (Main Campus). Parra leads both the First Generations Student Group and the Judicial Board, as their staff advisor. As the Coordinator of Residence Life, Parra supervises the Residents Assistants.
Assistant Director of Residence Life
BJ Taylor is from Southern California. BJ holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the California State (CalPoly - Pomona). BJ is responsible for summer conference housing, Wonderful Wednesdays, and the Peer Ministers, as their staff advisor. As the Assistant Director of Residence Life, BJ supervises the Community Assistants.

Director of Residence Life and Conference Housing
The Director of Residence Life and Conference Housing is responsible for creating and maintaining a residential community where every student feels safe, productive, and at home.
Ana Alicia Lopez is a Houston native with a proud family history at the University of St. Thomas. Her parents are both alumni of the University and her mother lived in the original Guinan Hall. Lopez followed in their footsteps and completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at UST. Lopez was an active member of Residence Life during her time as a student and, after some time away, is thrilled to be back on-campus serving as the Director.
