Residence Life Staff

Residence Life StaffThe Residence Life staff at the University of St. Thomas aims to make the transition from high school to college as smooth as possible for freshmen and create enjoyable experiences for returning residents. With campus programs and hall events, the ResLife staff strives to make everyone feel at home. Maintaining a ratio of 20 to one (one of the lowest resident-to-staff ratios in the country), they ensure that personal attention is given to each student.

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants create a sense of community within a smaller community such as a hall. They plan academic and social events, assist residents in roommate conflict resolution and create a comfortable living and learning environment for their residents. There is one Resident Assistant On-Call every night – they can be reached at 713-208-0244.

Community Assistants

Community Assistants create large programming events for all residents such as Pajama Jam, Winner Winner ResLife Dinner, Celt Coffehouse and Lunar New Year. Community Assistants also serve as Orientation Leaders and assist freshmen in their transition from high school to college.

Peer Ministers

Peer Ministers help to promote spiritual growth in the Residence Halls by encouraging individual spiritual growth and by developing a sense of Catholic community among residents. Peer Ministers lead Bible Studies on-campus, lead regular prayer groups in the halls and assist with the weekly Guinan Hall Mass.

Residence Council

The Residence Council is the student governing board for Residence Life. ResCouncil allows every resident to use their voice and ideas to the residence hall communities better. Prior ResCouncil initiatives have included bike racks for the halls, study cubicles and free printing hours for residents. Residence Council will hold elections for the Executive Council positions (President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Public Relations, and Vice President of Finance) during the spring semester.

Judicial Board

The University of St. Thomas Residence Life Judicial Board serves to maintain an environment for learning and personal growth. Composed of peers, the Judicial Board upholds the policies of the residence halls and provides a just and fair judicial process for all residents. Every resident documented in an incident report is given the opportunity to let their voice be heard during the judicial process.
